The theme of this month’s NaBloPoMo (National Blog Posting Month) challenge is Connect – and since that particular topic is rather near and dear to my social-loving heart, I thought I’d tackle a few of the writing prompts now and then as I blog my way through the month of July.
Sound like a plan? Then let’s go!
Do you write only for yourself,
or do you use your blog to try to connect to other people?
Hmmm, let’s give this some thought.
→ If I wrote only for myself, it would make far more sense for me to keep a private journal (whether handwritten or digital) rather than publishing my words here for anyone to see.
→ If I wrote only for myself, I wouldn’t bother setting up several different options for potential readers to subscribe to new posts.
→ If I wrote only for myself, I wouldn’t invite others to read what I’ve written by sharing links and promoting my posts all over social media.
→ If I wrote only for myself, I wouldn’t ask questions at the end of my posts in the hopes that you’ll join in on the conversation.
→ If I wrote only for myself, I wouldn’t care about building community by taking the time to respond individually to each of your comments on my posts.
So I guess it’s pretty clear that writing and sharing on Alphabet Salad is, for me, mostly about making connections with others. It’s a time-consuming, tremendously rewarding, labour of love – and I am truly happy and grateful that YOU are here to share it with me!
Is your own blog for yourself or for connection with others?
Please share!
