Sunday afternoon ramblings

Long weekends are delightful! After our regular Sunday diner breakfast, a routine as expected and comfortable as a well-loved pair of slippers, we took a leisurely stroll along the riverside walkway, families picnicking in the grassy shade on one side and sailboats skidding across the waves on the other. The Peace Fountain floating in the river spouted water high into the air, a jubilant performance that felt like a celebration of the first long weekend of Spring, and its fine mist borne on the breeze occasionally kissed our warm faces with welcome refreshment.

Bliss.

Now I’m at Starbucks on my own, fortified by a shaken iced green tea lemonade and a large bottle of water, enjoying the air conditioning on this warm afternoon. I’ve brought my beloved iPad and… inspired by some of my readers’ suggestions… a bluetooth keyboard! I was willing to give the iPad’s built-in keypad a try, but when I found a great promotion – sign up for a $5.00/month data plan and get a free bluetooth keyboard – I remembered your recommendations and couldn’t pass up such a sweet deal! And I must say, I can see that I’ll be a lot more productive with something that’s closer to a “real” keyboard – it has proper raised keys, and is also far less sensitive to the slightest touch. The whole thing – iPad, keyboard, and case – packs up into something easy to carry and no larger than a notebook. I love technology!

On the practical side, I can’t say that I am in love with the WordPress app. It’s a bit buggy, and also rather limiting… yet trying to use the web-based WordPress dashboard on the iPad isn’t ideal either. I need to work out the kinks so the process is a lot smoother – anyone have any tips or tricks? (Ah, first-world problems!)

You know, this is “my happy place” – well, ok, one of them! I actually have several, some natural, some man-made, some not so much an actual place as a state of being. But sitting on my own in a cafe, writing implements at the ready, music and chatter and hissing espresso machines providing the soundtrack, is a certain kind of heaven to me.

And now I’m off to enjoy the rest of my long weekend.

Hope all is well in your world!
