B is for… Because

Because your blue eyes twinkle
smile-crinkled
Because your compassionate heart aches
for that cat in the alley who just might be a stray
(and you’d save them all, every last one,
if only you could)
Because your off-the-wall wit glitters
razor sharp, lightning quick
Because you scatter peanuts and seeds in the yard
for the squirrels and birds
(and probably rats, too – you don’t discriminate)
Because you laugh easily,
bringing the rest of us along for the ride
Because you want to share, long to give
even when you don’t have
Because you have overcome
Because you have unrealized strength
Because you are you
Because.
