Merry Christmas to me!

(Note: This post was written by Laurel Regan and originally published in a separate blog called “Why Windsor…”, which was later merged with Alphabet Salad.)

It’s Christmas morning, and since it’s far too early to call my family in Victoria for our planned Christmas morning Skype, and since my husband is catching another hour’s worth of sleep before he has to put the turkey in the oven, I decide to turn on my computer to do a quick check of my e-mail and a few sites that I regularly frequent. My heart is warmed by all the “Merry Christmas” greetings and videos from friends on Facebook and various message boards, and then…

Merry Christmas to me!

…which saves me having to post an official announcement on this blog!

Our Gift To You

Dawn Storey, one of the newest writers for The Square, is a lifelong British Columbian who recently chose to uproot herself from her home in Victoria and move to Windsor. She brought along her husband, her cat, her car, most of her possessions, and even, through the wonder of the Internet, her job as an Office Manager for a consulting firm in Victoria.

Writing has always been a passion for Dawn. Her earliest memory of being drawn to the written word was around the age of three when she stubbornly hefted her dad’s old Underwood typewriter up the basement stairs one by one because, in an effort to stop her pestering him to use the typewriter, he had offhandedly promised that if she could bring it upstairs by herself, she could use it. The passion continued from there throughout her youth and adulthood, taking shape in different forms from diaries to poetry to stories to articles and, most recently, to a variety of online journals and blogs.

Dawn will be writing a regular column for The Square entitled, “Why Windsor…”, sharing her unique viewpoint as a newcomer to the city.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAI am tremendously excited about this opportunity, and invite all of my blog followers to also follow my column on the Windsor Square (the content I write there will be different from, but complementary to, my blog, so there shouldn’t be any repeat posts).

And now, on to Christmas! I wish all the very best of the season to each and every one of you. 🙂
