We were surrounded by creativity and inspiration for several hours today, as we spent the afternoon at Art in the Park. This wonderful event has been going on for more than 40 years, but it was our first time as newcomers to the city.
It definitely won’t be our last!
We strolled through the gorgeous setting of Willistead Park admiring the art on display in the many booths, sampling treats, people-watching, laughing, listening to music, and chatting with a few of the people we met throughout the day. I was impressed with the creativity and cleverness of so many, and, actually, surprised by the sheer size of the event. I’m not sure why, but for some reason I was expecting something a bit smaller; however, the booths and displays at Art in the Park seemed to go on forever!
For the most part I just looked, but in the end I did manage to purchase a small remembrance of the day – a gorgeous glass pendant by Julie A. Bell of Shattered Glass:
It was so difficult to choose – she had so many lovely pieces on display – but I kept coming back to this one, so it ended up coming home with me.
What a wonderful day!
And now, in the spirit of creativity, but with an attitude of silliness and an acceptance of imperfection, I present to you the second project in my 30 Days of Creativity adventure!
June 2, 2012 prompt:
FIRE – Liar Liar, your pants are burning up.
(If you want to see this in all its imperfect waxy goodness, clicking on the photo will take you to the larger version on Flickr.)
In case you missed it, this is what I’m doing throughout the month of June, and why. I’ll be posting all of my projects to my 30 Days of Creativity 2012 board on Pinterest.
I hope you’re having a great weekend!
